HRA Announcements

Here you will find what is happening in your neighborhood and issues that your  board feels you should know about.

PICNIC ON THE GREEN
As of September 12, 2026

For the second year in a row, the annual Homestead picnic was held on the playfield, with access only available from Colonial Farm Circle. 50 neighbors and friends attended and there was an impressive array of food and drinks — volunteers provided much of the food and adult beverages. Competitions in Corn Hole and croquet were conducted — Martha Kenney came away with a big win in croquet and the team of Dan Arnold and Tom Fullam defeated the dozen other teams in the Corn Hole competition.

ROAD REPAIRS
As of October 15, 2026

The road repair work is finally done. The contractor had to wait for a spell of dry weather lasting several days and it finally happened last week. The road crew was able to seal all of the cracks in our roadways and the work went smoothly. It worked because of the patience and cooperation exhibited throughout our neighborhood.. Thanks to all in dealing with any inconvenience.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Our dues, compared with so many other homeowner and condominium associations, have stay reasonalbe because, over the decades, neighbors have stepped up and lent their expertise, skills and time to maintain and enhance our open space community. Whether you are among the dozens of neighbors who have served voluntarily as officers and board directors, or organized social events, or performed maintenance work, or lent a hand in planting flowers or putting up holiday decorations, we thank every one of you. Our property values are what they are today because of your unselfish efforts.

There are always more opportunities for you to pitch in. In this space we will keep you informed about the help we are seeking. For now, here are a few that your Board has noted, if your are interested, please email your Board at:

  • Holiday Decoration Designer — during the darker Winter days, our neighborhood has always lit up our entrances and some of the open spaces along our roadways. Since our decorations had reached their end-of-useful-life last Winter, your Board allocated some money for new decorations. We can continue with the successful theme of the past or we are open to new ideas.  If you have some skill or interest in designing a new theme, we would to hear your ideas.

  • Gazebo Options Committee Leader and Members — Our raised deck and gazebo have served as a landmark for our neighborhood for 40 years. Now it's tired and has some structural challenges. The Board has done some serious studies of the cost of repairs and it will be expensive — Association members will get an opportunity to vote whether or not the gazebo should be repaired or  replaced with something else, but we are seeking volunteers to lead and serve on a neighborhood committee to come up wth alternatives for their neighbors to consider.

  • Traffic Calming Committee Leader and Members — The chicanes (horse jumps) have served their purpose of slowing traffic on Olde Homestead Drive for years. But times have changed — now we have large delivery trucks and landscape companies using trucks towing large trailers struggling to get through them and often inflicting damage — volunteers have repaired the chicanes at least a dozen times in this Summer season alone. Perhaps it's time to consider alternatives. Are you interested in doing some research? We could use your help in coming up with alternatives to present to the Association at the next annual meeting.

  • Construction Administrator: Do you have a background in construction. Regardless of what option the neighborhood decides on for the gazebo, it will involve contractors. We can hire a construction administrator to oversee the work and protect our association's interests, or we can count on a neighborhood volunteer. Are you candidate ? Your neighbors can use your help.
